I like the composition to this shot quite a bit. The depth of the setting comes through well, that is, the layers of the scene. Beginning at the wall and leading back to the water.

I also like the comtrasts to be found in the shapes of the objects in this shot. Especially the curved boats opposing the blocks of the wall.

The exposure seems to be overcompensated for the shady parts of the boats and foreground though, washing out detail and color in the background area. I would suggest, if confronted with a similar situation again, is speeding up the exposure, thus darkening the overall scene and possibly taming the over exposure in the background. You may be able to fix it in photoshop still, using levels adjustments.

Another option may be doing it HDR.

As a side note, this would look pretty sharp in B&W too.
